Performer Name:
Geegee Louise What is your gender (today) and your pronouns? Non-Binary, I prefer they/them pronouns for my performance life! Troupe affiliation? Solo Performer? Solo~ What led you to become a burlesque performer? An answer I haven't quite figured out myself. If I'm being totally honest, the movie Burlesque had spiked my interest. I had hoped my world would be like that one day, however, I found something much more magical along the way. What do you love about burlesque/performing? I feel like I can dance the way I want to. I don't have to follow the steps of a teacher, or fit into a mold of a company. I'm just allowed to exist in a space, that I am most comfortable in. I have met wonderful people along the way, who constantly help remind me of that. Why do you think Burlesque Boston is important? Tell us about the community! I think we respect each other in many ways. We aren't trying to out perform one another. We just want many faces, and many different kinds of burlesque to inspire each other. I admire that we all can create our own genres, and support each other so kindly. What's a fun fact about you that people might not know? While not very fun, I'm very shy. I am always watching everyone wishing I could be as great. What is your personal favorite performance? At the moment, my favorite performance I was able to see was watching Erykah Badu (no, it's not burlesque). She just made the whole room full of love, and her voice just extended me to another plain. Watching her, gave me a sense of peace, and that's what I hope I can portray as well. What festivals have you attended or performed in? I've danced in The New York Burlesque Festival, The Great Burlesque Expo, I was on tour for FIERCE, the national queer burlesque festival, annnnd I think that's it! Are you working on anything exciting you'd like to share with our readers? Yes! I am in the works of my own Burlesque Production. We are calling it Constellations, which is a love story set in a tiny cafe. I'm hoping to fall into a new genre in the Boston Burlesque world, and create a beautiful space for everyone. Who are your idols? Sophia Loren, Erykah Badu, Courtney Love. What's your favorite movie? Bound. Watch it. What song can you not help dancing to? "No Place I'd Rather Be." I can't help myself, it just puts me in the best of moods. Whats your website, Instagram, twitter, etc? @geegeelouise always! Do you have any pets? Can we see a picture? Can we follow them on Instagram? I do! I have a kitty, her name is Glorious, and she's camera shy! Is there anything else you'd like to share with our readers? I'm really thankful for everyone we work with. We all are very special, and I just want to thank those people who make creative spaces and allow everyone to participate. Let us love!
